Purpose Of The Role

The Machine/CNC Technician operates, programmes, and maintains machinery such as CNC (Computer Numerical Control) equipment used in the precision fabrication of components for modern construction projects.

Role In MMC

The Machine/CNC Technician plays a central role in producing high-precision parts and components for MMC, particularly in offsite manufacturing environments. Whether cutting timber, metal, or composite panels, CNC technicians help automate and accelerate production while maintaining high quality and consistency. Their skills support panelised systems, volumetric modules, and digitally designed building elements that form the backbone of efficient, scalable, and sustainable construction methods.

Training & Certifications

  • On-the-job training under qualified CNC technicians or factory supervisors
  • CAD/CAM software training (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD)
  • Machine safety and handling courses (e.g., Safe Pass, Manual Handling)
  • QQI Level 5 or 6 in Engineering Technology or Manufacturing
  • CSCS or other plant/machine certifications (if applicable)
  • Vendor-specific CNC machine certification (e.g., Homag, Biesse, Haas)
