Testing and Inspection Technician

Purpose Of The Role

The Testing and Inspection Technician carries out checks and tests that ensure construction materials, systems, and finished work meet safety, quality, and performance standards.

Role In MMC

As construction shifts towards factory-built components and digitally designed systems, Testing and Inspection Technicians are critical in verifying that each element meets strict specifications before, during, and after installation. In MMC, this includes inspecting prefabricated modules, conducting quality assurance at factories, and ensuring digital models align with physical outputs through techniques like laser scanning and data logging.

Education

  • Level 5–7 qualification in Construction, Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Materials Science.

Training & Certifications

  • Safe Pass (SOLAS)
  • Manual Handling and Working at Height Certification
  • Construction Product Regulations (CPR) and CE Marking Awareness
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Training (Level 1 or 2)
  • BCAR (Building Control Amendment Regulations) Awareness
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Training
  • Training in BIM-enabled inspection tools
