The Fire Technician ensures that buildings are designed, constructed, and maintained to meet fire safety standards, helping to prevent fire incidents and protect lives and property.
Role In MMC
Fire Technicians in MMC play a critical role in adapting fire safety solutions for modular and offsite construction. This includes assessing fire resistance of prefabricated components, reviewing fire strategies within digital design tools, and ensuring that fire-stopping, compartmentation, and evacuation measures are properly implemented both in the factory and onsite. They also help integrate fire safety into rapid-build techniques and new materials.

Education
- Level 6+ qualifications in Fire Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related discipline.
- Further study in Fire Safety Engineering or Fire Risk Management is advantageous.
Experience
- Background in fire safety, building control, M&E (mechanical and electrical) installation, or construction inspection.
- Experience with modular building systems or prefabrication is increasingly valuable.
Training & Certifications
- Passive Fire Protection Training (e.g., ASFP Ireland or IFC Certification)
- QQI Level 6 Fire Safety Awareness or Fire Warden Training
- BCAR (Building Control Amendment Regulations) Compliance Training
