Purpose Of The Role

The Certification & Inspection Officer ensures that construction works, materials, and systems meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards through inspection, verification, and certification processes.

Certification & Inspection Officers are pivotal in ensuring that innovative building methods such as off-site manufacturing, modular construction, and sustainable practices comply with national regulations and industry standards. They help drive trust and quality assurance within MMC by validating new techniques and materials against traditional benchmarks.

Suggested Entry Routes

Education

  • NFQ Level 6–8 in relevant fields such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or Building Surveying.
  • Diploma or degree from Institutes of Technology or Technological Universities.

Experience

  • Prior work in construction, site supervision, building control, or quality assurance roles.
  • Experience in working with MMC technologies or sustainable building projects is advantageous.

Training & Certifications

  • Safe Pass Certification (mandatory for site access).
  • Manual Handling and Working at Heights certifications.
  • Professional membership or accreditation from bodies such as Engineers Ireland, CIOB, or the Irish Building Control Institute.
  • Training in ISO standards, especially ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), is advantageous.
