The Solar Panel Installer safely installs, connects, and maintains solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential, commercial, or industrial buildings to support renewable energy goals.
Role In MMC
Solar Panel Installers contribute to sustainable construction practices by integrating renewable technologies into both traditional and MMC-built structures. With the rise of prefabricated building elements, installers increasingly work alongside modular assembly teams, ensuring solar systems are pre-integrated or efficiently mounted onsite to reduce energy demand and carbon footprint.

Experience
- Prior work in roofing, general electrical installation, or scaffolding may be helpful.
- Apprenticeship or assistant experience on solar or renewable energy projects.
Education
- NFQ Level 5–6 in Electrical Installation, Renewable Energy Technology, or Construction Studies.
Training & Certifications
- Practical training in PV system installation (e.g., SEAI or SOLAS recognised).
- Manual handling, Safe Pass, and Working at Height certifications.
- Qualified Electrician or Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) status (for connection work).
- SEAI-approved solar installer registration. Certification in PV Installation & Commissioning (desirable).
