The MMC Safety Officer ensures that modern construction methods are carried out safely by identifying risks, promoting safe practices, and protecting workers across both offsite and onsite environments.
Role In MMC
MMC introduces new processes such as modular construction, offsite manufacturing, and digital design, all of which present unique safety challenges. The MMC Safety Officer ensures these processes are planned and executed safely, with specific focus on factory settings, transportation of units, robotic or automated systems, and high-precision onsite assembly. The role also involves integrating safety planning into digital tools like BIM and CDEs (Common Data Environments).

Experience
- Experience in a health and safety role in either construction or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with MMC projects, including factory-based or modular installation settings.
Education
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
- Level 6 or higher qualification in Construction Safety, Engineering, or Occupational Health.
Training & Certifications
- Safe Pass (SOLAS)
- Manual Handling and Working at Height Training
- IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH National General Certificate
- PSCS/PSDP Awareness Training
- MMC-specific modules in Safety and Risk Management
- First Aid Responder (FAR) Certificate
- Confined Spaces / Crane Lift Planning (if applicable)
