Role In MMC
Bricklayers remain essential in MMC projects, particularly in hybrid systems that combine traditional methods with offsite construction. Their skills are used for cladding, outer leaf brickwork, and finishing works on modular units. Increasingly, bricklayers are also working with brick slips, prefabricated wall panels, and automated bricklaying tools, making the role more efficient and future-focused.

Experience
- Previous experience as a General Operative or Construction Labourer.
- Informal work with family trades or small contractors.
Education
- Junior Certificate or Leaving Certificate (preferably with maths or technology subjects).
- Entry into an apprenticeship through the SOLAS system.
Training & Certifications
- Brick and Stonelaying Apprenticeship (SOLAS).
- Onsite mentoring under a qualified bricklayer.
- Safe Pass (mandatory).
- Manual Handling Certificate.
- Safe Pass card and SOLAS Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
