CAD Technician

Purpose Of The Role

The CAD Technician creates accurate, detailed technical drawings and models that support the design, coordination, and delivery of construction projects.

Role In MMC

CAD Technicians are central to MMC by producing precise digital drawings and 2D/3D models that enable offsite manufacturing, standardisation, and digital integration. Their work underpins the development of components and assemblies used in platform-based and DfMA-led construction.

Experience

  • Entry-level role suitable for those with prior exposure to technical drawing, construction, or engineering environments.
  • Work experience or placements with design consultancies, contractors, or manufacturers is valuable.

Training & Certifications

  • Drawing Standards (e.g. BS 8888, ISO 19650) – Ensuring consistent and compliant outputs.
  • Introduction to BIM Workflows – Understanding how CAD fits into broader digital processes.
  • Health & Safety in Design (CDM Awareness) – Embedding safe design principles into drawings.
