The MMC Design Manager manages and coordinates all design activities for MMC projects, ensuring that designs are accurate, efficient, and optimised for off-site manufacture, modular assembly, and sustainable delivery.
Role In MMC
The MMC Design Manager ensures that designs align with MMC principles, integrating DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly), modularity, and sustainable solutions from the earliest project stages. They lead multidisciplinary teams to translate client requirements into buildable, factory-ready solutions, ensuring seamless collaboration between architects, engineers, manufacturers, and on-site teams.

Experience
- Previous experience as a Design Coordinator, BIM Manager, or MMC Project Engineer
- Experience in modular, panelised, or prefabricated construction projects
- Exposure to both design office and manufacturing/factory environments
Education
- Degree in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, or Industrial Design
- Postgraduate qualification in Digital Construction or MMC (advantage)
Training & Certifications
- BIM Level 2/ISO 19650 accreditation
- Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or above)
- DfMA and modular construction training
- Sustainability and low-carbon design CPD
- Project management (PMP or PRINCE2)
