They enable quicker builds, improved energy efficiency, and better coordination with off-site construction phases.

Suggested Entry Routes
Experience
- Work as a plumbing assistant, general construction labourer, or mechanical helper.
- Experience in maintenance, facilities, or heating installation.
Education
- Junior or Leaving Certificate (ideally including maths and science).
- NFQ Level 5 Construction or Engineering course.
- Direct entry into the SOLAS Plumbing Apprenticeship (NFQ Level 6).
Training & Certifications
- SOLAS Registered Plumbing Apprenticeship (4 years, phases 2–7).
- Safe Pass Certification (mandatory on Irish construction sites).
- Manual Handling and Working at Heights.
- Gas Installer Registration (RGI) if working with gas appliances.
- Additional modules in Solar Thermal Systems, Heat Pumps or Rainwater Harvesting.
