The Plasterer applies plaster and other coatings to walls, ceilings, and partitions, creating smooth, durable, and fire-resistant surfaces.
Role In MMC
Plasterers are essential to MMC through the use of pre-mixed materials, faster application techniques, and integration with modular systems. Their work contributes to thermal efficiency, airtightness, and the aesthetic finish of both traditional and off-site construction.

Experience
- Labouring or assisting a plasterer on-site
- Community or renovation projects
- Self-taught experience with small-scale plastering
Education
- Junior or Leaving Certificate
- QQI Level 4 or 5 in Construction or Finishing Trades
- Entry into the SOLAS Plastering Apprenticeship (NFQ Level 6)
Training & Certifications
- SOLAS Plastering Apprenticeship (4-year, combining on-site and off-site training)
- Safe Pass Certification (required for all construction workers)
- Manual Handling and Working at Heights certifications
- Machine Plastering Course (optional, available via ETBs or Skillnet)
