Description
The Manufacturing Technician Traineeship is designed for those wishing to pursue a role or aspire to work in an advanced manufacturing setting. It was launched in response to the growing number employment opportunities in the manufacturing industry sector in the West of Ireland.
It's a full-time, 46-week traineeship, designed to position trainees to pursue challenging and rewarding careers in the role of manufacturing process support, in a variety of industry settings.
Such roles encompass electronic, electrical, mechanical, PLCs (programmable logic controllers) with computational skills, all of which must be executed in the context of safe working practices.
The traineeship also includes 12 weeks of work experience - learners are supported to seek sponsorship for this element and use this opportunity to seek gainful employment in the manufacturing sector.
A state of the art workshop premises has been developed in Ballina to facilitate the new traineeship, fitted out with a range of high-spec industry standard equipment and machinery. Spaces are limited to 10 participants and each learner will have an individual workstation to practice their skills and complete assessments.
You will learn in a hands-on and supported learning environment, and graduates may progress to study further and or confidently seek relevant employment opportunities in the economy's manufacturing sectors.
Candidates will also be equipped to pursue more advanced training opportunities, including relevant Apprenticeship opportunities and other skills development offerings to pursue a professional qualification in the industry.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
* MSLETB accepts a number of different entry routes to the Manufacturing Technician Traineeship, depending on your own individual background.
* Applicants must be 18 years or older, with eligibility to work, study and live in Ireland.
The following criteria will inform candidate selection:
• This a QQI Level 6 traineeship, therefore candidates should have attained a L5 or equivalent educational achievement or have relevant work experience in a related area.
• Must be numerate and literate with a very good standard of English.
• The capacity to learn new skills and absorb varied product knowledge.
• A problem solver with the capacity to work as a member of a team and to communicate clearly with others.
• Good hand-to-eye coordination, mechanical aptitude and visual acuity is important
• Demonstrate a level of personal motivation and a clear desire to work in the field of technology.
Course Hours: 8.30am - 3.45pm Monday to Thursday / 8.30am - 12.45pm on Fridays. This is a practical, classroom based traineeship and you must be available to attend Ballina Training Centre during the hours above.
Cost: This course is provided free of charge. You do not need to be in receipt of a social welfare payment to attend this course. If you are in receipt of a social welfare payment when the course commences, you may be entitled to a training allowance while attending.Other available supports include meals, travel and/or accommodation allowances.
English Language Proficiency:
This is a full-time course delivered entirely in the English language.
Applicants must have a sufficient level of proficiency to use the English language to make and communicate meaning in spoken and written contexts while completing their program of study.
If English is not your first language, you may be asked to complete a language assessment to determine your language proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The proficiency required will depend on the level of award associated with your course of study.
