Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a process for creating and managing information on a construction project throughout its whole life cycle. It is a collaborative way of working, underpinned by the digital technologies which unlock more efficient methods of designing, creating and maintaining our assets. Properly implemented, BIM delivers projects to a higher quality and safety level.

The purpose of the Level 5 Major award in Construction Technology is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence required to work independently and under supervision in a range of construction industry contexts and or to progress to further and or higher education and training.

The main aim of this course is to give learners an introduction to the twin areas of construction measurement and construction economics as well as a basic training in land surveying & GIS (Geographical Information Systems).

This programme prepares graduates to assume technical, management, academic and research and development level positions within the construction industry. The course consists of twelve subject modules - three per semester and learners may take as few modules as they wish and complete the programme over a number of years to suit their own circumstances.
